Langley is a small community in Aiken County, South Carolina, United States. It is known as a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area identified by the United States Census Bureau for statistical purposes, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.
In 2010, about 1,447 people lived in Langley. It is located near other communities like Gloverville to the northeast and Burnettown to the west. Langley is also part of the larger Augusta, Georgia metropolitan area, which is a big group of cities and towns that are connected.
Langley is found in a historic area called Horse Creek Valley. It also sits right next to a place called Langley Pond. The community got its name in March 1870. This happened during a meeting of the Langley Manufacturing Company's leaders. They chose the name to honor William C. Langley from Brooklyn, New York. He was the main owner of the company. Before this, the area was called Kalmia, after the Kalmia Mills, which William C. Langley and others had bought. William C. Langley was a very smart businessman in the 1800s who made a lot of money in the textile industry.
