Olanrewaju Olusegun Mark Bamidele "Lanre" Oyebanjo (born 27 April 1990) is a professional footballer from England. He played as a defender, which means he helped protect his team's goal. Lanre played for several clubs, including York City and Crawley Town. His last club was Welling United. He also represented the Republic of Ireland at youth international levels.
Lanre started his career in the youth system at West Ham United. After leaving West Ham, he joined Waltham Forest in 2006. He then moved to Brentford in 2007. In 2008, he joined Histon, where he played a lot of matches.
He moved to York City in 2011. With York, he helped the team win the 2012 FA Trophy Final and get promoted to the Football League. After a successful time at York, he signed for Crawley Town in 2014. He later returned to York City in 2016 and then played for Welling United in 2019.

Club Career Highlights
Lanre Oyebanjo was born in Hackney, London. His father is Nigerian and his mother is Irish. He started playing football early, joining the West Ham United youth system when he was 10 years old. He left West Ham at 16.
Early Football Journey
Lanre began his senior career with Waltham Forest in 2006. He was only 16 at the time, making him one of the youngest players for the club. He played 21 matches for them during the 2006–07 season. After that, he joined Brentford in their youth system. He was part of Brentford's first-team squad but did not play in any official matches for them during the 2007–08 season.
Time at Histon
In 2008, Lanre joined Histon, a club in the Conference Premier. He quickly became a regular player. In October 2008, he was even named the Conference Premier Player of the Month.
He scored his first goal for Histon in December 2008, which was a winning goal against Woking. He also helped Histon reach the third round of the FA Cup for the first time in their history in 2008–09. He played a total of 49 matches and scored one goal in his first season with Histon.
During the 2009–10 season, Lanre faced some injuries, including a knee injury that needed surgery. He still managed to play 29 matches and score one goal. He also had a trial with Peterborough United, a bigger club, but he stayed with Histon.
In the 2010–11 season, he played 40 matches and scored two goals. Even though Histon was relegated to a lower league, Lanre thought about staying with the club.
Success with York City

After leaving Histon, Lanre signed a two-year contract with York City in June 2011. He made his debut for York on the first day of the 2011–12 season. He helped York win their first match by setting up the winning goal.
Lanre scored his first goal for York City in March 2012. He then scored a very important goal in the 2012 FA Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium. York won that match 2–0, winning the FA Trophy!
Just a few weeks later, Lanre played in the 2012 Conference Premier play-off final at Wembley again. York won this match 2–1, which meant they were promoted back to the Football League after eight years. He played 27 matches and scored three goals in his first season with York.
In the 2012–13 season, he played 32 matches. He continued to be a key player, and in the 2013–14 season, he played 46 matches. Because of his great performances, York City supporters voted him their Clubman of the Year.
Later Career Teams
In June 2014, Lanre decided to join Crawley Town, a team in League One. He played 36 matches for them in his first season. However, Crawley Town was relegated to League Two. He left Crawley Town in 2016 after playing seven more matches.
On 22 July 2016, Lanre returned to York City, who were now in the National League. He stayed for one season before being released in 2017.
In February 2019, after recovering from an injury, Lanre signed for Welling United, a club in the National League South. He made his debut for them in March 2019.
International Career
Lanre Oyebanjo played for the Republic of Ireland at the under-19 level. He made his debut in August 2008 against Portugal. He played in several matches for the under-19 team, including qualification games for the 2009 UEFA European Under-19 Championship. He even captained the team in a match against Sweden, which they won 2–1. He earned nine caps (appearances) for the under-19 team and was named the FAI Under-19 International Player of the Year in August 2010.
He then moved up to play for the under-21 team. His under-21 debut was in November 2009 against Georgia. He played in six matches for the under-21 team, including qualification games for the 2011 and 2013 UEFA European Under-21 Championships.
Playing Style
Lanre Oyebanjo mainly played as a right back, which is a defensive position on the right side of the field. However, he could also play as a centre back, which is a central defensive role.

Outside of football, Lanre Oyebanjo studied at City, University of London. He earned a degree in Mathematics & Finance. As of 2017, he was working as a financial planner.
