Lantsch/Lenz (called 'Lenz' in German, and Lantsch in Romansh) is a small town, also known as a municipality, in Switzerland. It is located in the Albula Region in the canton of Grisons. Most people here speak German, but a good number also speak Romansh.

History of Lantsch/Lenz
Lantsch/Lenz is a very old place. It was first written about around the year 850. Back then, it was known by the name Lanzes.
Geography of Lantsch/Lenz
Lantsch/Lenz covers an area of about 21.8 square kilometers (about 8.4 square miles). A big part of this land, about 27%, is used for farming. Forests cover another 34.4% of the area.
About 3.8% of the land has buildings or roads. The rest, about 34.8%, is made up of things like rivers, glaciers, or mountains. These parts are not used for farming or building.
The town is located high up, at about 1,294 meters (4,245 feet) above sea level. It sits on a flat area above the Albula river. Lantsch/Lenz is a "linear village," which means its buildings are mostly spread out along a road. Before 1943, the town was simply called Lenz.
People and Languages
Lantsch/Lenz has a population of about 350 to 500 people. A small part of the population, around 12.5%, are people from other countries. Over the last ten years, the number of people living here has slowly grown.
Most people in Lantsch/Lenz speak German. Romansh is the second most common language. A smaller number of people also speak Albanian.
