Larry Scott (born January 2, 1977) is an American college football coach. He is currently the head football coach at Howard University. He has held this important position since 2020.
Scott played college football himself at the University of South Florida. After his playing days, he returned to South Florida in 2006 to begin his coaching career. He later joined the Miami Hurricanes team in 2013 as a tight end coach. In 2015, he became the interim head coach for Miami after the previous coach, Al Golden, left the team.
After his time at Miami, Scott moved to the Tennessee Volunteers in 2016. There, he worked as a tight ends coach. He was later promoted to offensive coordinator in 2017. In 2018, he joined the Florida Gators coaching staff. He coached the tight ends for Florida until 2019.
Larry Scott's Coaching Journey
Larry Scott started his coaching career at the high school level. He coached at Paul R. Wharton High School in Florida in 2001. After that, he coached at Freedom High School from 2001 to 2003. In 2004, he was a co-offensive coordinator at Sebring High School.
College Coaching Roles
Scott moved to college coaching in 2006. He started as a graduate assistant at the University of South Florida, where he used to play. Over the years, he coached different positions at South Florida, including tight ends and running backs.
In 2013, he joined the Miami Hurricanes as their tight ends coach. In 2015, he stepped up to be the interim head coach for Miami. He led the team to a 4–2 record during his time as interim coach.
After Miami, Scott coached at the University of Tennessee in 2016. He was the tight ends coach and later became the offensive coordinator in 2017. He then coached tight ends for the Florida Gators from 2018 to 2019.

In 2020, Larry Scott became the head football coach at Howard University. This was a big step in his career. He has been leading the Howard Bison team since then.
Under his leadership, the Howard Bison have achieved success. They won the MEAC championship in both 2022 and 2023. This shows his strong coaching skills and ability to lead a team to victory. His overall record as a head coach is 22 wins and 32 losses.
