Laurence 'Larry' Warke (born May 6, 1927, died January 22, 1989) was an Irish cricket player and a medical doctor. He played a special kind of cricket called 'first-class cricket'.

Larry Warke's Early Life and Education
Larry Warke was born in Belfast in May 1927. He went to school in Belfast at the Royal Belfast Academical Institution. In 1944, he moved to Trinity College, Dublin to study medicine.
Cricket Career Highlights
Larry started playing club cricket for Woodvale in Northern Ireland. Later, he played for Dublin University.
First-Class Debut for Ireland
In 1950, Larry played his first 'first-class' cricket match for Ireland. This game was against Scotland in Perth. First-class cricket is the highest level of domestic cricket.
Playing for Ireland
For the next ten years, Larry regularly played first-class cricket for Ireland. His last first-class match was also against Scotland in 1961. This game took place in Cork. In total, he played seventeen first-class matches for Ireland.
Batting and Bowling Skills
Larry was a strong and powerful batsman. He scored 450 runs in his seventeen matches. His highest score was 120 runs. This amazing score was his only century (scoring 100 runs or more) in first-class cricket. He made this century against Scotland in 1954. He also bowled a bit, taking seven wickets with his medium-pace bowling.
Life as a Doctor and Rugby Player
After finishing his medical studies, Larry became a junior doctor in Dublin. He continued to play club cricket for Leinster.
Rugby Union Talent
Larry was also a very good rugby union player. While studying in Dublin, he played for Dublin University and Lansdowne. He later played for bigger teams like Ulster and Leinster. In 1954 and 1955, he even tried out for the Irish national team.
Family and Legacy
Larry Warke passed away in Belfast in January 1989. His son, Stephen, also became a cricketer. Stephen played for Ireland in the 1980s and 1990s.
