Las Matas de Farfán is a town located in the San Juan Province of the Dominican Republic. It is known for being the hometown of several famous Major League Baseball players. Some of these players include Jean Segura, Juan Encarnación, and Odalis Perez.
During the time when Haiti ruled the area (from 1822 to 1844), the town was officially called Las-Mathas.
Near the town, in the mountains, you can find the Furnia de Catanamatias. This is the deepest cave in the Dominican Republic, going down about 380 meters (1,247 feet)!
Climate in Las Matas de Farfán
Las Matas de Farfán has a tropical savanna climate. This means it is warm all year round. The days are usually very hot, and the nights are a bit cooler.
The difference between daytime and nighttime temperatures is quite large for a place in the Caribbean. This is called Diurnal temperature variation.
