Lauren Brincat facts for kids
Lauren Brincat, born in 1980, is an Australian artist who creates amazing art using many different ways. She makes sculptures you can walk around, videos that tell stories, and even live performances. Lauren often works with other artists, mixing different art forms together. Her art installations are special because they often invite people to join in and interact with them!
Lauren's artworks are kept in important places like the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, and the Art Gallery of Western Australia. One of her famous works, Salt lines: play it as it sounds, was shown at the Carriageworks Arts Centre in 2016 as part of a big art event called the Sydney Biennale. In 2019, she worked with the MCA and Landcom to create a living sculpture called The Plant Library.
Lauren finished her art studies at Sydney College of the Arts in 2006, earning a Masters of Visual Arts degree.

Solo Art Projects

- Hear This, shown at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Australia, in 2011.
- Shine on you crazy diamond, displayed at the Museum of Old and New Art in Hobart in 2010, and also at the Next Wave Federation Square Festival in Melbourne in 2010.
- Salt Lines: play it as it sounds, which was part of the Sydney Biennale. The Art Gallery of New South Wales bought this artwork in 2015–16.
- Walk the Line, a piece that went along with Salt Lines, shown at the Art Gallery of NSW in 2016.
- The Plant Library, exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art Sydney in 2019.
- Slow Moving Waters at the TarraWarra Biennial in 2021.
- Women with Fringes etc. exhibition at the Anna Schwartz Gallery in 2022.

Awards and Recognition
Lauren Brincat has received awards for her creative work:
- She was given the Australia Council for the Arts Emerging Artists Creative Australia Fellowship grant from 2012 to 2014. This award helps new artists develop their skills.
- She was a finalist for the Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize in both 2017 and 2018. This prize celebrates small, amazing sculptures.
