It also sold enough copies to be certified Platinum.

Lauren Daigle's third album, Look Up Child, came out in September 2018. The song "You Say" from this album became a huge hit, even crossing over into mainstream pop music. Look Up Child debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart. This made it the highest-charting Christian album by a woman in over 20 years. "You Say" also set a record for staying at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart for 129 weeks. Both the album and the song helped Daigle win two Grammy Awards.

Besides her two Grammy Awards, Lauren Daigle has won many other honors. These include twelve GMA Dove Awards, six Billboard Music Awards, and four American Music Awards. She has also had four No. 1 songs on both the Billboard Christian Airplay and Hot Christian Songs charts. The New York Times noted that she has become one of the most successful Christian artists to also gain popularity in the pop music world since the 1990s.

Early Life and Music Start

Lauren Daigle was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and grew up in Lafayette, Louisiana. The music around her, like zydeco, blues, and Cajun music, greatly influenced her. Her mother even called their house "the music box" because Lauren was always singing.

Lauren didn't think about music seriously until she got sick at age 15. This illness kept her out of school for two years. During this time, she took voice lessons, which became a way for her to express herself. Before this, she had planned to study medicine and do mission work. She finished high school early and spent a year doing mission work in Brazil. Later, she attended Louisiana State University (LSU) to study Child and Family Studies.

Music Career Journey

Starting Out in Music

Lauren Daigle began singing in her school choir and later led the choir at LSU. Her family encouraged her to try out for the TV singing competition American Idol in 2010 and 2012. She made it far in the competition but didn't reach the final rounds.

She first appeared on albums by North Point InsideOut, singing songs like "Close" and "You Alone." Later, she sang background vocals for a local band. This led to Centricity Music inviting her to a workshop. When another singer couldn't perform, Lauren stepped in. This led to her singing on a song for Jason Gray. Centricity Music officially signed her in 2013.

Lauren's first song as a solo artist was "Light of the World" in 2013. This song was part of a Christmas album and helped her gain her first fans. She then released an EP (a shorter album) called How Can It Be in September 2014.

Breakthrough with How Can It Be

Lauren Daigle's first full album, How Can It Be, was released on April 14, 2015. It quickly went to No. 1 on the Billboard Christian Albums Chart. The album also reached No. 16 on the Billboard Top Albums Chart, which includes all types of music. Lauren became known as one of Christian music's rising stars.

The album's main song, "How Can It Be," was named one of the top Christian songs of 2014 by iTunes. The album stayed at No. 1 on the Billboard Christian Albums Chart for six weeks. About a year and a half after its release, How Can It Be sold enough copies to be certified Gold, and later Platinum. Because of its success, a deluxe version of the album was released in May 2016.

The next year, she won Artist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year at the Dove Awards. She also won Female Artist of the Year at the K-Love Fan Awards in 2016 and 2017.

Other songs from How Can It Be also became very popular. "First" and "Trust in You" both reached No. 1 on the Billboard Christian Airplay Chart. "Come Alive (Dry Bones)" also reached the top 5.

In 2015, Lauren toured with Hillsong United and was part of the Winter Jam Tour in 2016. In late 2016, she had her first headline tour, A Night With Lauren Daigle, which sold out. She also joined for King and Country on their holiday tour.
