Exploring Lavitah Mountain

People have thought about many exciting ways to use Lavitah Mountain for fun activities. These ideas are still just plans, but they show how special this mountain could be!

Fun Ideas for the Mountain

Years ago, in the mid-2000s, someone suggested building a private ski area on Lavitah Mountain. This would have been a place just for members to enjoy skiing.

Later, in 2012, there was a study for a bigger idea called the Pine Pass Mountain Top Community. This plan imagined a resort that people could visit all year round. It would offer activities for every season, like skiing in winter and hiking in summer.

More recently, in 2018, a plan for trails in the District of Mackenzie looked at Lavitah Mountain. They thought it would be a great spot for Backcountry skiing. This type of skiing means exploring wild, untouched snow away from regular ski resorts.

Power from the Wind

Besides fun activities, Lavitah Mountain was also considered for a different kind of project. In 2012, people studied if it would be a good place for a wind farm. A wind farm uses giant wind turbines to create clean electricity. While this idea was explored, no wind farm has been built there yet.

Water from Lavitah Mountain

Lavitah Mountain is important because it is the starting point for two small creeks. These creeks carry water down from the mountain slopes.

One of these creeks is called Caswell Creek. It flows from the south side of Lavitah Mountain. Another small stream, which doesn't have a name, starts on the north side. This unnamed stream eventually joins Honeymoon Creek. These creeks are part of the natural water system in the area.
