Lawrence Higby facts for kids
Lawrence M. Higby is an American businessman who also worked in politics. He was an assistant to a very important person in the White House during the time Richard Nixon was President. Later, he became the main leader (called the CEO) of a company named Apria that provides medical equipment for people at home. Before 2005, Mr. Higby also led a group of people who supported the Republican Party through a special fundraising group.
Working in the White House
During the time of President Nixon, Lawrence Higby worked closely with the President's team. In 1971, he received a special note from another White House official, John Dean. This note mentioned a list of people that the President's team was keeping an eye on.
Mr. Higby's boss, H. R. Haldeman, was involved in a big political event known as the Watergate scandal. This event caused a lot of discussion and changes in American politics. Someone who shared information about Watergate once described Mr. Higby as a young person who simply followed instructions. Interestingly, in the Nixon White House, if someone was a very good and helpful assistant, they were sometimes called "a higby."
