Lee Ju-ho (Hangul: 이주호; born 17 February 1961) is a South Korean economist. He served as the acting President of South Korea from May to June 2025. He also acted as the Prime Minister of South Korea from May to July 2025.
Since 2022, he has been the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education. Lee is also a professor at the KDI School of Public Policy and Management.
In May 2025, Lee took on several important roles at the same time. He became the acting President, acting Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Education. This happened after some changes in the government leadership.

Early Life and Education
Lee Ju-ho was born on 17 February 1961. His birthplace was Chilgok County in North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea.
He studied economics and earned three degrees. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Seoul National University. Later, he completed his doctorate degree at Cornell University in the United States.
Career in Government
Before entering politics, Lee Ju-ho was a professor. He taught at the Korea Development Institute. In 2004, he became a member of the 17th National Assembly.
In 2009, he served as the First Vice Minister of Education, Science and Technology. He then became the Minister in 2010. He held this position until 2013. In 2022, he was appointed Minister of Education again.
Key Education Changes
As Minister of Education, Lee Ju-ho led several important changes. He started the Neulbom School program. This program offered free after-school care for young elementary students.
He also supported increasing the number of medical school students. Another focus was using digital textbooks. He especially promoted textbooks that use artificial intelligence. These AI-based textbooks were introduced in schools recently.

On 2 May 2025, Lee Ju-ho became the acting President of South Korea. He also took on the role of acting Prime Minister of South Korea. This happened after the previous acting leaders resigned.
As acting president, Lee gave important directions. He told the military to be on the highest alert. He also called for careful preparations for the presidential election. This election took place on June 3, 2025.
Lee also asked all public servants to maintain strict discipline. He emphasized that they should remain politically neutral. This was important before the 2025 South Korean presidential election.
Lee served as the acting prime minister until 3 July 2025. On that date, Kim Min-seok was confirmed for the position.
