History of Leland
Leland got its own post office in 1857, which means mail could be sent and received there. The village was named after John Leland Adams, who was the first Postmaster.
Geography of Leland
Leland is in the northeastern part of LaSalle County. It's about 10 miles (16 km) southwest of Sandwich. It's also 20 miles (32 km) northeast of Mendota and 20 miles (32 km) north of Ottawa.
