Lenora is a small place in Dewey County, Oklahoma, in the United States. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and buildings that doesn't have its own official local government, unlike a city or town. Lenora is located about 5.5 miles west of another community called Taloga.
History of Lenora
Lenora was first settled in 1892. This was a time when many new communities were forming in Oklahoma. By the year 1900, Lenora had grown to have about 400 people living there.
The Lenora Post Office
A very important part of any community back then was its post office. The post office in Lenora opened on March 24, 1896. It helped people send and receive letters and packages. This was the main way for people to communicate over long distances. The post office served the community for many years before it closed on June 30, 1955.
