Lenzie Academy is a school in Lenzie, East Dunbartonshire, Scotland. It's a co-educational secondary school, meaning both boys and girls attend. The school serves students from Lenzie, Auchinloch, and parts of Kirkintilloch.

Who Runs Lenzie Academy?

The school is managed by a team of leaders. This team includes the Head Teacher and six Deputy Head Teachers. Each Deputy Head Teacher is in charge of a different year group. Brian Paterson has been the Head Teacher since 2011.

How Many Students Attend?

In recent years, Lenzie Academy has had around 1,200 to 1,300 students. About 100 teachers work there. Each year, around 240 new students join in S1 (first year). Most of these students come from four local primary schools: Auchinloch Primary, Millersneuk Primary, Lairdsland Primary, and Lenzie Meadow Primary.

Some students also come from outside the school's main area. They attend through something called "placing requests." This means their families ask for them to go to Lenzie Academy even if they don't live in the usual area.

School Buildings and History

The main Lenzie Academy building you see today was built in 1960. Over the years, new parts have been added to it. The very first school building, from when the Academy started in 1886, is now used as Lenzie Primary School.

In 1996, the school made important changes to become more accessible. They installed a lift and ramps. This meant that students with physical disabilities could easily move around the entire building.
