How the School is Run
The school is managed by a team of leaders. This team includes the Head Teacher and six Deputy Head Teachers. Each Deputy Head Teacher looks after a different year group. Since 2011, the Head Teacher has been Brian Paterson.
How Many Students Attend
Lenzie Academy has about 1,296 students. There are 101 teachers who help them learn. Each year, around 240 new students join the first year (S1). These students usually come from four local primary schools: Auchinloch, Millersneuk, Lairdsland, and Lenzie Meadow Primary.
About 40% of the students come from outside the local area. They attend the school by making a special request. The total number of students at the school has become a little smaller over the last eight years.
School Buildings
The main red brick building of Lenzie Academy was built in 1960. Over the years, new parts have been added to it. The very first school building, from when the Academy started in 1886, is now used as Lenzie Primary School.
More than 110 years after the school first opened, it welcomed its first student with a physical disability in 1996. To make sure everyone could get around easily, the school added a lift and ramps.
School Leaders Through Time
Lenzie Academy has had ten Head Teachers since it began. For 125 years, until 2011, the Head Teacher was called the "Rector."
