Leoville is a small, unincorporated community in Decatur County, Kansas, United States. This means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own city government like a town or city. Leoville is located about 3.6 miles (5.8 km) southwest of a place called Dresden, along K-223.
History of Leoville
Leoville was started in the year 1885. A group of German Catholic families moved to this area. They decided to name their new community in honor of Pope Leo XIII. He was a very important religious leader at that time.
Education in Leoville
Students living in Leoville attend public schools through the Hoxie USD 412 school district. In the past, Leoville had its own schools. However, these schools were closed because of something called "school unification." This means smaller school districts joined together to form larger ones. The mascot for Leoville High School was the Leoville Lions.
