Leyla Badirbeyli (born Leyla Aghalar gizi Badirbeyli, later Javanshirova) was a very famous actress from Azerbaijan. She was born in 1920 and passed away in 1999. Leyla was known for her amazing work in both theatre and films. She was even called a "People's Artist" of Azerbaijan, which is a very high honor! She also won a special award called the State Stalin Prize for her acting.

About Leyla Badirbeyli
Leyla Badirbeyli was born on January 8, 1920, in the city of Baku. Her family came from a noble background in the Shamkir region.
In 1936, when she was just 16, Leyla became a singer and dancer. She joined the Song and Dance Ensemble of Azerbaijan. She performed with this group until 1942.
Starting Her Acting Career
In 1942, Leyla was invited to join the Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theatre. This was a big step for her. She started performing on stage there.
Leyla once said about her time in theatre:
"Theatre was very important to me. I worked with many great actors and directors. My acting career in both movies and plays happened during wartime. But even then, these years were very successful for art and for me." |

In 1945, Leyla Badirbeyli played a very famous role. She was Gulchohra in the musical comedy "Arshin mal alan". This role made her even more popular.

In 1951, Leyla finished her studies at the Azerbaijan State Theatrical Institute. This helped her become an even better actress.
Personal Life
Leyla Badirbeyli married a man named Fərəc Cavanşirov. He came from a noble family. They had a son together named Javanshir, who was also known as Elhan. Later in life, Leyla and her husband separated.
Leyla Badirbeyli passed away on November 23, 1999. She left behind a wonderful legacy of performances.
