About Liam's Life
Liam's father, Neil Finn, wrote a song called "Our Day" about Liam even before he was born. This shows how music has always been a big part of their family.
Liam Finn married his partner, Janina Percival, in June 2015. They have two sons together.
Liam's Music Career
Liam Finn started his music journey early. From 1997 to 2006, he was a co-founder and performer in the band Betchadupa. This band released several albums and EPs during those years.
As a solo artist, Liam is amazing because he can play many instruments. He plays drums, keyboards, and guitar, and he sings. He often uses special loop tracks to create his songs live on stage or during online shows.
Liam also records and tours with Crowded House. As of 2024, both he and his brother Elroy Finn are official members of the band. They perform alongside their father, Neil Finn, on tours around the world. They have visited places like the UK, Ireland, Europe, the USA, Australia, and New Zealand.
Live Performances

In 2008 and 2009, Liam Finn was the opening act for Eddie Vedder's solo tours across America. He also went on his own first North American tour. In November 2008, he toured the UK and Europe with The Black Keys. Liam is known for trying out new and interesting instruments in his shows. For example, he used a special 24-string electric instrument called the Tafelberg, which was made just for him.
In April 2008, Liam played several solo concerts in Ireland. He had guest singers join him, including E J Barnes, who is the daughter of famous Australian rock musician Jimmy Barnes.
Liam also performed at a special concert called Sound Relief on March 14, 2009. This event was held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground to raise money for people affected by the Victorian Bushfire Crisis. All the money from the Melbourne concert went to the Red Cross to help with relief efforts. Many other famous artists also performed at this big event.
In August 2009, Liam performed with a new band called BARB. They went on a short tour in New Zealand. This band included other talented musicians like Connan Hosford and James Milne. They released an album together in 2010.
In January 2014, Liam toured New Zealand again. This was his first tour there since 2011. For this tour, he had a new backing band called The Salty Women. This group included many musicians he had worked with before, like James Milne and his brother Elroy Finn.
Working with Neil Finn and Crowded House
Liam Finn has often performed with his father, Neil Finn. On November 29, 2009, they sang together at AMI Stadium in Christchurch. They performed popular songs like "Better Be Home Soon" and "I Got You".
In 2018, Liam and his father released an album together called Lightsleeper.
In 2021, Liam became a main member of Crowded House. He appeared on their album Dreamers Are Waiting. Liam even co-wrote several songs on this album with his father. He also wrote one song, "Goodnight Everyone," all by himself. In 2024, he also appeared on their album Gravity Stairs.
