Who Was Liam Ó hOisín?

Liam Ó hOisín was from a place called Cummer in County Galway, Ireland. He was a very busy scribe who worked in the middle of the 1800s. He spent his life copying many different kinds of writings.

He copied poems by famous Irish writers like Antoine Ó Raifteiri. He also copied stories about the Fenian heroes and other long adventure stories from Irish mythology. These were old tales from Ireland's past. He copied these texts in both the Irish language and English.

One of his books was later found by another scribe named Seán Mag Fhloinn. Seán Mag Fhloinn said that he got "his old book full of charms, poems, recipes, and interesting things." These writings were in both phonetic Irish (written as it sounds) and English.
