Lidija Vukićević (born on July 20, 1962) is a famous Serbian actress and politician. She is well-known for her roles in movies and TV shows.

One of her most popular roles was playing Violeta, also known as Viki. Viki was the daughter in the Popadić family on the very popular TV series Bolji život. Lidija's acting career was at its busiest during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

From 2004 to 2012, she was also involved in politics. She was a member of the Serbian Radical Party (SRS). She served as a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Serbian parliament from 2007 to 2012.

Lidija Vukićević comes from the Vasojevići family group, which is a traditional clan.

Acting Career Highlights

After having a few small roles in films and on television, Lidija Vukićević's movie career in Yugoslavia really started in 1985. This happened when she was cast in Zoran Čalić's movie Žikina dinastija. This film was the seventh part of the popular comedy series called Lude godine. Lidija was 22 years old at the time and played the role of Lilika.

Being seen in Žikina dinastija and especially appearing regularly on Bolji život led to more roles for her. She starred in other Yugoslav movies like Lutalica. In this film, she played a beautiful young folk singer from a small town who comes to Belgrade. She performs at a kafana (a type of restaurant or bar) to start her singing career.

She also had important supporting roles in movies such as Špijun na štiklama and Vampiri su među nama. These films were similar in style to Žikina dinastija.

Political Journey

In 2004, Lidija Vukićević joined the Serbian Radical Party (SRS). This was a political party whose leader, Vojislav Šešelj, was being held in The Hague. He was waiting for his trial at an international court.

At that time, the SRS was a very strong opposition party. It had won many votes in the 2003 Serbian parliamentary election. The party had 82 seats in the National Assembly, which was more than any other party in Serbia. Leaders like Tomislav Nikolić and Aleksandar Vučić led the party while their main leader was away.

For the 2007 parliamentary elections, Lidija Vukićević was put on the SRS list of candidates. After the election, the party did very well again. She became one of their 81 Members of Parliament.

In September 2008, the SRS party had a big disagreement and split up. Many members, including top leaders Nikolić and Vučić, left to form a new party called the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS). However, Lidija Vukićević chose to stay with the SRS.

After the 2012 Serbian parliamentary election, she left the SRS. In that election, the party did not get enough votes to have any seats in parliament. Many other important members also left the party around that time.
