Ligüiqui is a small, peaceful village in Ecuador. It's part of the San Lorenzo area, near the city of Manta in the Manabí region. Only about 100 people live here, making it a quiet spot surrounded by nature.
This village is hidden away in the forest, about 30 kilometers (18 miles) south of Manta. Manta is a big, modern city with an important port on Ecuador's coast. It's also one of the most important cities for the country's economy.
You can reach Ligüiqui by bus from Manta. The bus ride takes about 35 minutes. After that, it's a short 5-minute drive or a 50-minute walk to get to the village itself.

Ligüiqui has a steady climate with two main seasons: winter and summer. However, it often feels like winter, especially at night when it can be rainy and cool.

Ligüiqui is famous for having one of the best "left-waves" on the Ecuadorian coast. A left-wave is a type of wave that breaks to the left from a surfer's perspective. Because of its quiet location, you won't find many people here. When the ocean has a good "South Swell" (a strong set of waves coming from the south), the waves can reach up to 9 feet (about 2.7 meters) high!
Economy of Ligüiqui
The main way people in Ligüiqui make a living is through tuna fishing. The ocean provides plenty of fish for the community. Some families also run small markets from their homes, selling goods to locals and visitors.
