Torence Ivy Hatch Jr. (born November 14, 1982), known by his stage name Boosie BadAzz or just Boosie, is an American rapper. He was formerly known as Lil' Boosie. Hatch started rapping in the 1990s with the Southern hip hop group Concentration Camp. He began his solo career in 2000 with his first album, Youngest of da Camp.

..... There, he released his second album, For My Thugz (2002). Boosie is a well-known figure in Southern hip hop. He has released many solo albums, group albums, and mixtapes.

In 2009, Hatch had to take a break from his music career due to legal issues. He was found not guilty of the most serious charges against him. After being away for five years, he was released on March 5, 2014, and returned to making music.

Early Life

Boosie was born Torence Hatch on November 14, 1982, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He grew up on West Garfield Street. His mother, Connie Hatch, was a school principal. Boosie was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was a child.

Music career

How it all started

In the late 1990s, Boosie's cousin introduced him to the rapper C-Loc. He joined the rap group Concentration Camp in 1998 as its youngest member. He appeared on the group's album Camp III: Thug Brothas in 2000.

At age 17, Boosie recorded his first album, Youngest of da Camp (2000). The album's sound was mostly created by producer Happy Perez.

..... In 2002, Trill released his album For My Thugz under his new name, Lil Boosie.

Gaining popularity

..... The next year, they worked together again on Trill Azz Mixtape Vol. 1. He also paired up with Webbie for a second album, Gangsta Musik. His growing fame caught the attention of Universal Music Group. In 2005, he signed a deal with Warner Bros. Records.

In 2006, Boosie released his first major album, Bad Azz. It included the hit single "Zoom," which featured Yung Joc. In 2007, he was featured on the popular remix of the song "Wipe Me Down" by rapper Foxx.

In 2008, he was featured on Webbie's hit song "Independent". He also appeared on DJ Khaled's song "Out Here Grindin" with many other famous rappers.

Superbad and new albums

In 2009, Boosie released his second major album, Superbad: The Return of Boosie Bad Azz. The album's first single was "Better Believe It," which featured Webbie and Young Jeezy.

That same year, Boosie started his own record label, Bad Azz Entertainment. He released the album Thug Passion on his new label.

While he was away from the music scene, his fourth album, Incarcerated, was released on September 28, 2010. It featured artists like Webbie and Foxx. He also released a mixtape album called Gone Til' December in 2010 with new music.

Return to music

After his release in 2014, Boosie held a press conference. He announced that he had signed a new record deal with Atlantic Records. His first single back was "Show Da World" with Webbie.

In October 2014, he officially changed his stage name from Lil' Boosie to Boosie Badazz. He explained that as a grown man and a father, he felt the "Lil'" part of his name no longer fit.

His album Touch Down 2 Cause Hell was released in 2015. It featured artists like Rich Homie Quan, Chris Brown, Rick Ross, and T.I. Later that year, he released a mixtape called "Life After Deathrow."

In 2017, Boosie released his seventh studio album, BooPac. He followed this with Boosie Blues Cafe in 2018 and Badazz 3.5 in 2019.

Bad Azz Music Syndicate

Bad Azz Music Syndicate is a record label started by Boosie Badazz and his brother, Taquari "TQ" Hatch. TQ suggested they rebrand the original label, Bad Azz Entertainment. He wanted to create a new company that could sign different types of artists from all over the world.

Personal life

Boosie has eight children. In 2013, he earned his GED certificate while he was away from home.

In November 2015, Boosie announced that he had been diagnosed with kidney cancer. He had a successful surgery to remove the cancer. He has managed his type 1 diabetes since he was a child.

In September 2022, Boosie released a book about his life called Cross The Tracks: A Memoir.
