Webbie's Early Life
Webbie was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His mother passed away when he was nine years old. After that, his father and grandmother both helped to raise him. He started writing rhymes when he was just five years old. As he grew up, he became a big fan of rap music, especially artists from the Southern hip hop scene like Master P, Eightball & MJG, the Geto Boys, and UGK.
His Music Journey
Webbie first appeared on a song called "Gotta Get It" in 2001, which was on Lil Boosie's album For My Thugz. He and Lil Boosie then released two collaboration albums: Ghetto Stories in 2003 and Gangsta Musik in 2004.
Webbie's solo song "Give Me That" featuring Bun B became very popular. Because of this, his record label, Trill Entertainment, grew and signed a deal with Asylum Records. After this deal, Webbie released his first major album, Savage Life, in 2005. It was a success, reaching number eight on the US Billboard 200 chart.
Trill Entertainment later made a deal to sign Webbie with Atlantic Records. His next album, Savage Life 2, included the hit song "Independent" featuring Boosie and Lil Phat. This song became Webbie's most successful to date. It reached number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Rap Songs chart.
Webbie released his third album, Savage Life 3, on November 15, 2011. The first song from this album was "What's Happenin'". His fourth album, Savage Life 4, came out on November 19, 2013. The first song from this album was "What I Do," released earlier that year on April 16, 2013.
Acting on Screen
Webbie has also appeared in movies. In October 2010, he made an independent movie called Ghetto Stories with Lil Boosie. This film was based on their lives and the themes in their songs. He also appeared in the 2011 movie Video Girl, which starred actress Meagan Good.
