Zane Copeland Jr. (born July 11, 1982), who is known by his stage name Lil' Zane, is an American rapper and actor. He is most famous for his hit song "Callin' Me" from 2000, which featured the group 112.

The song was a huge success and climbed to number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 music chart. This was his only song to make it onto that chart. Because of the song's popularity, he signed with Priority Records. They released his first album, Young World: The Future, which sold well. His second album, The Big Zane Theory, did not sell as many copies, and he later left the record label.

How It All Began

When Zane was 10 years old, he was inspired by music groups like Another Bad Creation and Kris Kross. He became serious about making music and started practicing with his cousin, E. Greene.

He first got noticed when he was part of a group called Kronic. The group was signed to RCA Records from 1993 to 1996 but never released an album. After the group broke up, Zane started entering talent shows in his hometown of Atlanta. In 1999, he began touring with the popular group 112 while working on his own first album.

Music Career

1999–2002: A Hit Song and First Album

In 1999, Lil' Zane released his first single, "Money Stretch," which was on the soundtrack for the movie Next Friday. A year later, he released his biggest hit, "Callin' Me". The song was very popular on the radio and music charts.

His first album, Young World: The Future, came out in 2000. It started at number 165 on the Billboard 200 chart but quickly jumped to number 25. The album sold over 490,000 copies. In 2001, he was also featured on the song "Hardball" with Bow Wow, Lil Wayne, and Sammie for the movie of the same name.

2003: The Big Zane Theory

In 2003, Lil' Zane released his second album, The Big Zane Theory. For this album, he changed his stage name from Lil' Zane to just Zane. He said he wanted to use his real name, which his mom liked.

This album didn't sell as well as his first one. It reached number 191 on the Billboard 200 chart. The main single from the album was "Tonite I'm Yours." Soon after, Zane left his record label to take a break from music and focus on acting.

2004–Present: New Music and Projects

In 2004, Zane started his own record label called 3 Mill Entertainment. He planned to release a third album called Under the Radar, but it was never released. In 2008, he released the album Tha Return. Its single "Like This" is known as his comeback song.

Since 2010, Zane has continued to release new music. He appeared on a special anniversary show for 106 & Park and released several mixtapes. In 2012, he released a song called "Sippin ..." which featured the famous rapper Tupac Shakur. He has continued to work on new albums, including Life I Live, which was released in 2018.

Acting and Other Work

Besides music, Lil' Zane is also an actor. He has appeared in movies and TV shows. Some of his well-known roles were in Dr. Dolittle 2, The Fighting Temptations, and Finding Forrester. He has also been on TV shows like The Parkers, One on One, and the drama series BMF.

In 2004, Zane started his own record company. The name has changed over the years, and it is now called Money Making Muzik (MMM). He has signed and worked with several other artists through his label.
