Sammie Lee Bush, Jr. (born March 1, 1987), known simply as Sammie, is an American singer and songwriter. He became famous in 1999 with his hit song, "I Like It". This song was part of his first album, From the Bottom to the Top, released in 2000. He later released a second album called Sammie in 2006. Sammie has continued to release many EPs, mixtapes, and albums since then. Some of his later works include Indigo, Coming of Age, and Everlasting.

Sammie's Music Journey
Early Career and First Album (1999–2001)
Sammie first showed his amazing voice on the TV show Showtime at the Apollo in 1998. He won the show by singing Stevie Wonder's "My Cheri Amour". In 1999, Sammie signed with Capitol Records. His first album, From the Bottom to the Top, came out on March 14, 2000.
This album was very popular, reaching number 46 on the U.S. Billboard 200 charts. It sold over 500,000 copies, earning a gold certification from the RIAA. His first single, "I Like It", was a big hit. It reached number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 8 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts. This song also became gold-certified. His second single, "Crazy Things I Do", came out in early 2000. It reached number 39 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
In 2001, Sammie also sang on the song "Hardball". This song was a team-up with rappers Lil' Bow Wow, Lil' Wayne, and Lil' Zane. It was for the Hardball movie soundtrack. The song reached number 77 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
Return to Music and Second Album (2005–2012)
Sammie took a break from music to focus on school. He graduated from West Orange High School in Florida in 2005, when he was 17. After graduating, he signed with Dallas Austin's Rowdy Records. He went back to the studio to create his second album, Sammie, which was released in 2006. He worked with famous producers like Dallas Austin, Jazze Pha, and Bryan-Michael Cox.
The album Sammie debuted at number 42 on the Billboard 200 chart. The first song from the album, "You Should Be My Girl", featured Sean P from YoungBloodz. It reached number 26 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The second song, "Come with Me", reached number 23 on the same chart.
In 2008, Sammie was featured on Soulja Boy's popular song "Kiss Me thru the Phone". This song was a huge success, reaching number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Also in 2008, Sammie released his own song called “One Way Street.” In 2012, he helped write the song "Next Breath" for singer Tank's album, This Is How I Feel. Sammie also released his mixtape “Insomnia” in 2012, followed by “The Leigh Bush Project” EP in 2013.
Recent Albums and Collaborations (2016–Present)
In January 2016, Sammie released his mixtape Indigo. This was through his own music company, StarCamp Music. His third album, Coming of Age, came out in September 2017. His fourth album, Everlasting, was released in March 2019. In June 2019, Sammie went on “The Everlasting Tour.” He performed in small venues, giving fans a close-up experience. He also joined The Millennium Tour 2020. On this tour, he performed with artists like Omarion, Bow Wow, Pretty Ricky, Soulja Boy, Lloyd, Ashanti, and The Ying Yang Twins. In June 2020, he released his fifth album, "Such Is Life".
In June 2022, Sammie took part in Verzuz, a musical web series. He performed with his teammate Pleasure P against Bobby V and Ray J. Their performance became very popular online. Sammie was seen as a "winner" by many viewers. This led to discussions among the artists, and they decided to form a supergroup called R.S.V.P. The group is currently working on releasing an EP.
