Lincoln is a small, historic village in Loudoun County, Virginia. It is located in the beautiful Loudoun Valley. You can find it about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) south of Purcellville.

Quaker settlers started this community in the 1750s. They first called it Goose Creek. After Abraham Lincoln became president in 1860, the village was renamed Lincoln.

Along the main road, you'll see old homes and the Goose Creek Friends Meeting House. There is also a historic Quaker cemetery. The whole village is part of the Goose Creek Historic District. This means it's a special area with lots of history.

Famous People from Lincoln

  • Sara Haines Smith Hoge (1864-1939) was born in Lincoln. She was an important leader. Sara Hoge was the president of the Virginia Woman's Christian Temperance Union. This group worked to reduce alcohol use.
