Lindsey Lamar (born September 19, 1990) is an American college football coach and a former running back player. He currently works as the running backs coach for the University of Pittsburgh. He has held this position since 2024. Before coaching, he played college football at the University of South Florida. He also played professionally for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Canadian Football League.
Early Life and College Football
Lindsey Lamar grew up in Tampa, Florida. He went to Hillsborough High School there.
After high school, Lamar played college football for the South Florida Bulls. He was on the team from 2009 to 2012. In 2010, he had a fantastic year. He was named to the first-team All-Big East. He also won the Big East Special Teams Player of the Year award.
Playing in the CFL
After his college career, Lindsey Lamar joined the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. This team is part of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He signed with them on May 29, 2013.
Lamar made an amazing debut in the CFL. On June 28, 2013, he scored a touchdown against the Toronto Argonauts. He returned a kick 104 yards for the score! This big play earned him the Special Teams Player of the Week award for the first week of the 2013 CFL season. He played for the Tiger-Cats until September 10, 2014.
Coaching Journey
Lindsey Lamar started his coaching career in 2015. He returned to his old college, South Florida. He began as a graduate assistant, helping the team.
In 2017, he was promoted. He became a special assistant to the head coach. By 2019, he was working as an offensive quality control coach. In this role, he helped with the team's offensive strategies.
In 2020, Lamar moved to Howard University. There, he became the wide receivers coach. He helped players learn how to catch passes and run routes. In 2023, he received another promotion. He became the offensive coordinator for Howard.
Since 2024, Lindsey Lamar has been coaching at Pittsburgh. He is currently the running backs coach for the team.
Personal Life
Lindsey Lamar has a cousin named Nigel Harris. Nigel also played college football for the South Florida Bulls.
