Lindsey Lamar was born on September 19, 1990. He is an American college football coach and a former running back player. Currently, he coaches running backs for the University of Pittsburgh. He started this job in 2024. Before becoming a coach, he played college football at the University of South Florida. He also went to Hillsborough High School in Tampa, Florida. Later, he played professional football for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Canadian Football League.
Playing College Football
Lindsey Lamar played college football for the South Florida Bulls. He was on the team from 2009 to 2012. In 2010, he was recognized as a top player. He was named First Team All-Big East. He also won the Big East Special Teams Player of the Year award.
Professional Football Career
Lamar joined the Hamilton Tiger-Cats team on May 29, 2013. This team is part of the Canadian Football League. In his very first game, on June 28, 2013, he made an amazing play. He returned a kick 104 yards for a touchdown against the Toronto Argonauts. Because of this great play, he was named Special Teams Player of the Week. This was for the first week of the 2013 CFL season. He played for the Tiger-Cats until September 10, 2014, when he was released from the team.
Coaching Career
After his playing career, Lamar started coaching.
- In 2015, he went back to the University of South Florida. He worked there as a graduate assistant coach.
- In 2017, he got a promotion. He became a special assistant to the head coach.
- In 2019, he took on a new role. He became an offensive quality control coach. This means he helped with the team's offensive plays.
- In 2020, Lamar moved to Howard University. He was hired as the wide receivers coach.
- In 2023, he received another promotion at Howard. He became the offensive coordinator. This role involves planning the team's entire offense.
- In 2024, Lamar joined the University of Pittsburgh. He is now the running backs coach for their football team.
