Lineboro (sometimes called Linesboro) is a small community in the northeastern part of Carroll County, Maryland, USA. It's not a city or town with its own government, but a group of homes and businesses. The name 'Lineboro' comes from its location very close to the famous Mason–Dixon line.
Lineboro's Past
Lineboro has a special history! In 1996, a large part of the community was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This means it's recognized as an important historical area. It's called the Lineboro Historic District.
Early Beginnings
The land where Lineboro now stands was once known as "Plymouth." This land was given to a person named Verick Whissler way back in 1745.
First Homes in Lineboro
The very first house in Lineboro was built in 1820. It was built by a man named Conrad Kerlinger. By the year 1886, the community had grown to include eight homes. All of these houses were built after 1877.
