Lior Raz (Hebrew: ליאור רז; born on November 24, 1971) is an actor and writer from Israel. He is famous for playing Doron Kabilio in the TV show Fauda. He also starred as Segev Azulai in the series Hit & Run.

Early Life and Military Service
Lior Raz was born and grew up in Ma'ale Adumim. This is a town near Jerusalem. His parents moved to Israel from Iraq and Algeria. His father worked in special military units before running a plant nursery. His mother was a teacher.
When Lior was 18, he joined the Israel Defense Forces. He became a commando in a special undercover unit called Sayeret Duvdevan. This unit focuses on fighting terrorism. He also served in the reserves for 20 years.
After his military service in 1993, Raz moved to the United States. He worked as a bodyguard for the famous actor Arnold Schwarzenegger. He said it was a very exciting job for him.
Acting Career and Famous Shows
When Lior Raz returned to Israel at age 24, he studied acting. He went to the Nissan Nativ Drama School in Tel Aviv.
In his early acting years, Raz performed in plays. He also had small parts in Israeli TV shows. For example, he was a police investigator in Michaela in 2004. He also appeared in films like Gotta Be Happy in 2005. Later, he acted in TV dramas like Srugim and Mesudarim. In 2011, he played a police commander in the film Policeman.
Creating and Starring in Fauda
In 2014, Lior Raz teamed up with journalist Avi Issacharoff. Together, they created the TV show Fauda. This show is a political thriller. Raz also stars in it as Doron Kabilio. Doron leads an undercover counter-terrorism unit.
Fauda became very popular. In 2016, it won six awards at the Israeli Academy Awards. This included Best Drama Series. In 2017, The New York Times called Fauda the best international show of the year. In 2018, it won 11 more Israeli TV Academy Awards. Lior Raz won Best Actor for his role.
Other Major Roles and Projects
In 2018, Raz acted in the film Mary Magdalene. He played a community leader. The same year, he was in Operation Finale. In this movie, he played Isser Harel, who was the head of Israel's intelligence agency, Mossad.
In August 2021, Netflix released a new series called Hit & Run. Lior Raz starred in this show. He also helped create it with Avi Issacharoff and others.
Raz and Issacharoff also started a production company called Faraway Road Productions. In 2022, a company called Candle Media bought it. Both Raz and Issacharoff are still involved.
In 2023, they created Ghosts of Beirut. This is a four-part spy drama. It tells the true story of the search for Imad Mughniyeh. It started streaming on Showtime in May.
Also in 2023, Lior Raz began starring in A Body That Works. This is a drama series about surrogacy. It was very successful in Israel. Netflix later released it around the world.
In 2024, Raz is starring in the Israeli film Soda. He also appeared in the big movie Gladiator II, playing a character named Viggo.
Personal Life
Lior Raz is married to Israeli actress Meital Berdah. They have four children together. They live in Ramat Hasharon, Israel.
