Early Life and Learning

Lisa Ho was born in Albury, New South Wales, Australia. She started sewing when she was only four years old! Her grandmother, who was a tailor, really inspired her. Lisa said she probably "drove her grandmother mad" with all her questions and ideas.
By the time she was 10, Lisa had her own sewing machine. It was set up at the kitchen table, and no one was allowed to move it! She used it every day to make clothes for herself and her four sisters.
Lisa went to Pennant Hills High School. After that, she studied fashion design at East Sydney Technical College, finishing in 1981. She worked for other companies for about a year, but she didn't enjoy it much. So, she decided to start her own fashion business.
Building a Fashion Brand
In 1982, right after college, Lisa Ho began her fashion journey at the Paddington markets. Her designs quickly became popular, catching the eye of both shoppers and the media. This was the beginning of the well-known Lisa Ho brand.
The Lisa Ho brand became one of the most famous fashion labels in Australia. Many celebrities loved her designs, including Delta Goodrem, Bec Cartwright, Elle Macpherson, Olivia Newton-John, and Jennifer Lopez.
Lisa Ho's designs gained international attention during the 2000 Summer Olympics opening ceremony in Sydney. She designed a special part of the ceremony that celebrated her important role in Australian fashion. She was also asked to design the beautiful gown worn by Olivia Newton-John for her performance at the event.
At its busiest, Lisa Ho's business had 80 staff members. She had 12 of her own stores and her clothes were also sold in David Jones department stores. People could also buy her designs from all over the world through her online store.

In 2013, Lisa Ho's fashion companies faced some difficulties. On June 18, 2013, it was announced that the Lisa Ho Group would close all its stores in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.
Personal Life
Lisa Ho is engaged to Nick Jacenko.
In 2011, Lisa Ho met a man who later turned out to be a scammer. She was one of the people who lost money because of him. Her story was shared in a popular podcast called Who the Hell Is Hamish? in 2019.
