Delta Lea Goodrem AM (born 9 November 1984) is an Australian singer, songwriter, TV star, and actress. She signed a music deal with Sony Music when she was just 15 years old. Her first album, Innocent Eyes (2003), was a huge hit. It stayed at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart for 29 weeks! This made it one of the best-selling Australian albums ever, selling over four million copies worldwide.
Delta's second album, Mistaken Identity (2004), also reached number one. Her third album, Delta (2007), gave her another number-one song, "In This Life". In 2016, her fifth album, Wings of the Wild, became her fourth number-one album. It also featured the hit song "Wings". Her most recent number-one album, Bridge over Troubled Dreams, came out in May 2021.
Delta Goodrem has had nine number-one songs and 17 songs in the top ten on the ARIA Singles Chart. She has sold over eight million albums around the world. She has won many awards, including three World Music Awards and 12 ARIA Music Awards. Delta was also a coach on The Voice Australia from 2012 to 2013 and again from 2015 to 2020. She also coached on The Voice Kids. Since 2020, she hosts and performs a special Christmas concert every year on the Nine Network.

Delta Goodrem's Journey to Stardom
Early Life and Discovering Music (1984–2000)
Delta Goodrem was born on 9 November 1984. Her parents are Lea and Denis Goodrem. She also has a younger brother named Trent.
When Delta was seven, she appeared in an American TV advertisement. At the same age, she started playing piano and taking lessons for singing, dancing, and acting. She was in commercials for companies like Optus and Nesquik. Delta also had small roles in Australian TV shows like Hey Dad..! and A Country Practice.
Delta went to the Hills Grammar School from kindergarten until Year 11.
At 13, Delta recorded a five-song demo CD. She paid for it with money she earned from her TV work. This demo was given to Glenn Wheatley, who signed Delta to a music development deal.
Breaking Through: Neighbours and Innocent Eyes (2001–2003)
When Delta was 15, she signed a record deal with Sony. She started working on pop-dance songs. Her first song, "I Don't Care", didn't do very well.
In 2002, Delta got a role as Nina Tucker in the popular TV soap opera Neighbours. Nina was a shy school girl who wanted to be a singer. This role helped kickstart Delta's music career. Her piano song "Born to Try" was played on the show. It became number one in Australia and number three in the UK. Delta won a Logie Award for "Most Popular New Talent" in 2003.
In January 2003, her song "Lost Without You" also reached number one in Australia.
Innocent Eyes Album and Health Challenge
Delta's first album, Innocent Eyes, came out on 24 March 2003. She wrote most of the songs herself. It went straight to number one on the ARIA Album Charts. The album broke records by staying at number one for 29 weeks. It was the highest-selling album in Australia in 2003. It sold 1.2 million copies in Australia and over 4 million worldwide. The album's third song, "Innocent Eyes", also hit number one in Australia.
On 8 July 2003, when Delta was 18, she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, a type of cancer. She had to stop all her work to get treatment. Delta had chemotherapy and radiation therapy. The news of her illness was a big story, and fans sent her lots of support.
Her song "Not Me, Not I" was released after her cancer diagnosis. It became her fourth number-one song in Australia in a row. This broke a record previously held by Kylie Minogue. Delta won seven ARIA Awards in 2003, including "Best Female Artist". She was too unwell to perform, so Darren Hayes sang "Lost Without You" as a tribute. Delta's first DVD, Delta, became the best-selling music DVD by an Australian artist ever. Her song "Predictable" became her fifth number-one song in Australia.
Mistaken Identity and First Tour (2004–2006)
In late 2003, Delta announced she was in remission from cancer. She then started working on her second album.
In September 2004, Delta became the face of Pepsi in Australia. She also launched her own lingerie line called "Delta by Annabella".
Her second album, Mistaken Identity, was released on 8 November 2004. It debuted at number one in Australia. The first song from the album, "Out of the Blue", also went to number one. This was Delta's sixth number-one song in a row in Australia.
She also released "Almost Here", a duet with Irish singer Brian McFadden. This song became her seventh number-one hit in Australia. Many songs on this album, like "Extraordinary Day", were inspired by her experience with cancer.

In March 2005, Delta starred in her first film, Hating Alison Ashley. It was based on a children's book. The film didn't do very well. In July, Delta went on her first concert tour in Australia, called The Visualise Tour. It was a big success, selling over 80,000 tickets.
In March 2006, Delta sang a new song, "Together We Are One", at the 2006 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony. She performed in front of 80,000 people and many more watching on TV. The song reached number two in Australia.
Delta Album and International Focus (2007–2010)
Delta's third album, Delta, came out on 20 October 2007. Delta said the songs were "a lot lighter" than her previous album. It debuted at number one in Australia, making it her third number-one album.
The first song from the album, "In This Life", also reached number one. This was Delta's eighth number-one song in Australia.
In 2008, Delta worked on promoting her music in Japan and the United States. She released "In This Life" and the album "Delta" in both countries.
In July 2008, Delta announced her "Believe Again Tour" in Australia. She performed 14 shows in eight cities. A DVD of the tour was released in 2009. Delta also sang a duet, "Right Here With You", with Olivia Newton-John to help raise money for Olivia's cancer hospital.
Delta won her third World Music Award for World's Best Selling Australian Artist in 2008. In 2010, Delta and Guy Sebastian performed "Earth Song" at the Australian launch of the Michael Jackson's This Is It DVD.
The Voice and New Music (2011–2014)
In 2011, Delta was announced as a coach on the Australian version of The Voice. She coached alongside Keith Urban, Joel Madden, and Seal. She returned for season two in 2013.
On 30 March 2012, Delta released her new song, "Sitting on Top of the World". It reached number two in Australia. Her fourth album, Child of the Universe, came out on 26 October 2012. It debuted at number two in Australia. Delta also went on a tour called "An Evening with Delta: The Top of My World Shows".
In 2013, Delta performed at the Mardi Gras in Sydney. She sang dance versions of her hit songs. She also released a new song, "Heart Hypnotic". Delta celebrated 10 years since her first album by releasing Innocent Eyes: Ten Year Anniversary Acoustic Edition.
In 2014, Delta decided not to return to The Voice Australia. Instead, she became a coach on The Voice Kids. She coached with Joel Madden and Mel B. Delta also joined Andrea Bocelli on his tour in Australia and New Zealand. She released a cover of Martika's song "Love... Thy Will Be Done".
Return to Neighbours and Wings of the Wild (2015–2017)
In January 2015, it was announced that Delta would return as a judge on The Voice Australia. Her song "Only Human" was released to celebrate her return to Neighbours for its 30th anniversary. She appeared in three episodes as Nina Tucker.
On 24 July 2015, Delta released "Wings". It was the first song from her fifth album, Wings of the Wild. The song reached number one in Australia. From October 2015 to February 2016, Delta made her musical theatre debut. She played Grizabella in an Australian version of Cats.
"Dear Life" was released in May 2016. It reached number three in Australia. Wings of the Wild was released on 1 July 2016. Delta toured Australia in October and November 2016 to support the album.
New Projects and Health Journey (2017–2021)
In 2017, Delta appeared in the TV comedy-drama series House Husbands. She also became an ambassador for V8 Supercars Australia.
In 2018, Delta released the song "Think About You". She also played Olivia Newton-John in a TV movie about her life, Olivia Newton-John: Hopelessly Devoted to You. Delta released a soundtrack album called I Honestly Love You with songs from the movie.
In January 2020, Delta released a charity song, "Let It Rain". All the money went to help with the bushfire relief in Australia. She also performed at several big charity concerts.
While working on The Voice, Delta released the songs "Keep Climbing" and "Paralyzed". She announced her "Bridge over Troubled Dreams Tour". In a video, Delta shared that after a health challenge, she had to re-learn how to speak. This inspired her song "Paralyzed".
On 12 November 2020, Delta surprised fans by releasing her first Christmas album, Only Santa Knows. She also started her own TV Christmas special, Christmas with Delta.
In early 2021, Delta announced her seventh album, Bridge over Troubled Dreams, and a book with the same name. She also did "Bunkerdown Sessions" for her fans online.
Tours and Future Plans (2022–Present)
In June 2022, Delta announced she would be opening for the Backstreet Boys on their tour in North America. On 28 July 2022, Delta made a short appearance as Nina Tucker in Neighbours: The Finale.
On 24 September 2022, Delta sang with English singer Robbie Williams at the 2022 AFL Grand Final. They performed the song "Kids".
In 2023, Delta announced her "Hearts On the Run" tour in Europe and the UK. She had to reschedule some dates to rest her voice. After recovering, she performed at Uluru and in the Maldives. She then completed her rescheduled tour.
On 18 July 2023, Delta announced her new song, "Back to Your Heart". She also went on a 20th anniversary tour for her first album, Innocent Eyes, in Australia. She will tour with The Corrs and Gabriella Cilmi in 2025.
Delta Goodrem's Personal Life
Delta Goodrem has been in a relationship with fellow musician Matthew Copley since late 2016. In September 2023, they announced their engagement.
In February 2020, a person was found guilty of stalking and intimidating Delta.

Delta Goodrem's music is mostly pop and adult contemporary. She often plays the piano when she performs live. She is known for her strong soprano voice.

In 2005, Delta helped launch "Teen Info on Cancer" in the UK. She also became an ambassador for Research Australia's "Thank You Day".
In 2007, Delta was the face of Alternative Hair, which helps a cancer charity. In 2011, she became an ambassador for The Kinghorn Cancer Centre.
In 2017, she sang on a cover of the Beatles' "With a Little Help from My Friends" to raise money for the Sony Foundation.
In 2020, Delta released the charity song "Let It Rain". She also performed at three big charity concerts: Fire Fight Australia, One World: Together at Home, and Music from the Home Front. These concerts raised money for bushfire relief and the COVID-19 pandemic.
In June 2020, Delta launched the Delta Goodrem Foundation. It works with St. Vincent's Hospital and The Kinghorn Cancer Centre. The foundation raises money for blood cancer research.
