Music Career Highlights
Starting with Steps (1997–2001)
Lisa Scott-Lee became famous as part of the UK pop group Steps. The group formed in 1997. They had many hit songs, with 14 of them reaching the top 5 in the UK music charts. Steps decided to take a break on Boxing Day in 2001.
Solo Music Journey (2002–2008)
After Steps took a break, Lisa first helped manage her three younger brothers' band, 3SL. When their band didn't have much success, Lisa decided to start her own solo career. She signed a deal with Mercury Records.
In May 2003, Lisa released her first solo song, "Lately". She helped write this song, and it reached number 6 on the music charts. Her second song, "Too Far Gone", came out in September 2003 and reached number 11. After this, Mercury Records decided not to continue working with Lisa. This meant her planned album, Unleashed, was not released.
In 2004, Lisa worked with Intenso Project on a song called "Get It On". They even paid for the music video themselves. The song was later released and reached number 23 on the charts.
In 2005, a TV show called Totally Scott-Lee followed Lisa's life. It showed her trying to get her solo career back on track. On the show, Lisa said she would quit music if her next song didn't reach the top ten. She released a song called "Electric". Despite the TV show and media attention, "Electric" reached number 13, just missing the top ten. Lisa later said she regretted making that promise.
Lisa also appeared on the TV show Dancing On Ice in 2007. She finished in 6th place. Her first full solo album, Never or Now, was released digitally in June 2007.
Steps Reunion and New Music (2011–2022)
Steps got back together in May 2011 for a TV show called Steps: Reunion. They also released a new collection of their greatest hits, The Ultimate Collection, which became a number one album.
In 2012, Steps released their fourth studio album, Light Up The World. They also went on a Christmas tour.
Steps reunited again on January 1, 2017, to celebrate their 20th anniversary. They released their fifth album, Tears on the Dancefloor, which reached number 2 on the charts. They also went on a big tour. The group decided to continue making music after this reunion.
In 2020, Steps announced their sixth album, What the Future Holds, which came out in November. They also planned a new UK tour. They released several singles from this album, including "What the Future Holds" and "Something in Your Eyes".
Never or Now 20th Anniversary (2023)
In February 2023, Lisa Scott-Lee announced a special deluxe version of her solo album Never or Now. This was to celebrate 20 years since her first solo song, "Lately". She also performed a solo show at the Mighty Hoopla festival in June 2023.
Personal Life
Lisa Scott-Lee married Johnny Shentall, a former dancer for Steps and singer from Hear'Say, in August 2004. They have two children, a boy and a girl. In 2011, Lisa and her family moved to Dubai.
