African American newspapers are special newspapers created by and for Black communities. They share important news, stories, and ideas that matter to these communities. This article lists some of these newspapers that were published in Nevada.
Nevada was one of the last states to have its own Black newspaper. In the late 1800s, many other Western states had lots of African American newspapers. But Nevada had a very small Black population back then, with only about 134 Black residents in 1900. Because of this, no Black-owned newspapers were published in Nevada during that early time. It took a while for these important voices to appear in the state.

Over the years, several important African American newspapers started in Nevada. These papers helped share news and connect communities, especially in cities like Las Vegas and Reno. They covered local events, community achievements, and issues important to Black residents.
