The Minister-President of Hesse is like the top leader or "prime minister" of the German state of Hesse. This person is the head of government, meaning they are in charge of running the state's daily business.
The office where the Minister-President works is called the State Chancellery (in German, Hessische Staatskanzlei). It is located in Wiesbaden, which is the capital city of Hesse. The other government departments also have their offices there.

A Look Back in Time
The job of Minister-President, as we know it today, started in 1946. This was when the temporary state of Greater Hesse got its new name.
Greater Hesse was created in 1945, right after World War II. It was formed by combining parts of old Prussian provinces (like Kurhessen and Nassau) with the People's State of Hesse.
The state of Hesse today proudly continues the traditions of earlier states, especially the Grand Duchy of Hesse and the People's State of Hesse. It even uses many of their old symbols.
