Little America is a small community in Sweetwater County, Wyoming, United States. It is called a census-designated place (CDP) because it's a specific area counted by the government for population. In 2010, about 68 people lived there.
The community got its name from the Little America motel. This motel was built in a faraway spot to be like a safe place for travelers. It was named after the "Little America" base camp that explorer Richard E. Byrd set up in the Antarctic in 1928.
Even though it was in a remote spot, Little America grew. It was located on a major highway that goes across the country. It offered many services for travelers, like gas and food. This success led to a chain of travel stops with the same name. The person who started it, Robert Earl Holding, became very wealthy.
