Little Dracula is a fun series of books from Britain and an animated TV show from America. It was first shown on Fox. The story is about a young, green-skinned vampire named Little Dracula. He wants to be just like his dad, Big Dracula, but he also loves rock 'n roll music and surfing. Little Dracula has a cool monster friend called Werebunny. His family lives in Transylvania and is full of unique characters. They often have to deal with a bad guy known as the Garlic Man.
The Little Dracula Book Series
The Little Dracula book series began in 1986. It was first published by Walker Books in the UK. Later, Candlewick Press reissued some books in the US. The main writer was Martin Waddell, and Joseph Wright drew the pictures. There was also a joke book written by Alan Durant, with pictures by Paul Tempest.
These paperback stories are great for younger readers. They use Joseph Wright's detailed and funny drawings to tell the tales. The books show Little Dracula's spooky life. For example, he might go bowling with skulls. He also drinks a glass of blood before sleeping in his tiny coffin. The series was praised for its careful illustrations. Reviewers said it was "too silly to be truly spooky."
Most Little Dracula books came out in the 1980s and early 1990s. Some were reissued in the US as late as October 2001. This might have been to match the TV show's return around that time.
