The Little Mackinaw River is a river in the U.S. state of Illinois. It is about 18.5-mile-long (29.8 km), which is roughly the distance of a half-marathon! This river is a smaller stream, called a tributary, that flows into the larger Mackinaw River. They join together near the town of Hopedale in Tazewell County.
The name "Mackinaw" comes from the Ojibwe word mikinaak. This word means "turtle". So, the river's name basically means "Little Turtle River"!
