The Little River is a small, perennial river (meaning it flows all year round) located in the Victorian Alps of Australia. It is part of the West Gippsland catchment area in the state of Victoria.
About the Little River
The Little River starts in a wild and remote area. This area is in the southern part of the Avon Wilderness Park. It begins south of a place called Mount Hump. This mountain is part of the Great Dividing Range, which is a huge mountain range in Australia. The river's starting point is also inside the Alpine National Park.
River's Journey
The Little River flows for about 7 kilometers (4.3 miles). It travels in different directions: first southwest, then northwest, then southwest again, and finally south. Along its journey, the river drops about 645 meters (2,116 feet) in height.
The river's journey ends when it joins another stream called Ben Cruachan Creek. This meeting point is known as a confluence. The confluence happens within the area managed by the Shire of Wellington. After joining, Ben Cruachan Creek then flows into the larger Avon River.
