The Livingstone Range is a group of mountains found in Alberta, Canada. It is part of the larger Canadian Rockies mountain system. This range forms the eastern edge of the Rockies in the southern part of Alberta.
The Livingstone Range stretches from the Highwood River in the north all the way to the Crowsnest Pass in the south. To its west, you'll find the Livingstone River and the Oldman River.
What is the History of the Livingstone Range?
The Livingstone Range was named in 1858 by Thomas Blakiston. He was an assistant to John Palliser, a famous explorer. Blakiston named the range after David Livingstone, a well-known explorer from that time.
Who First Climbed a Mountain in the Canadian Rockies?
An explorer named Peter Fidler made history in 1792. He climbed Thunder Mountain, which is part of the Livingstone Range. This climb was the first recorded time a European reached the top of a mountain in the Canadian Rockies.
