Livox Wood is a special woodland area in Monmouthshire, south east Wales. It is known as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) because of its important plants and animals. This means the area is protected to keep its natural features safe.

Livox Wood covers about 19 hectares (which is like 47 football fields!). It was officially recognized as a Site of Special Scientific Interest in 1971. This protection helps to make sure the unique nature of the wood is looked after for the future.

Where is Livox Wood Located?

You can find Livox Wood near the village of Mitchel Troy, about 1 mile (1.6 km) south-west of the town of Monmouth. It sits right on the western side of the River Wye. If you look across the river, you can see the fields where the Monmouthshire Show takes place.

Parts of Livox Wood are owned by Natural Resources Wales, which is an organization that looks after Wales's natural environment. Other parts are owned by private individuals. Working together helps protect this important place.
