History of Llay-Llay
Llay-Llay became a commune on April 6, 1875. This happened during the time when Federico Errázuriz Zañartu was the President of Chile. The area first grew because a railway station was built there. This station helped three copper factories move their products.
A big event happened in Llay-Llay on September 14, 1863. People celebrated the official opening of the railway line that connected Santiago and Valparaíso. The President of Chile, Don José Joaquín Pérez, even attended a large party in the village for this special day. Because of its growth, Llay-Llay was officially named a "town" on April 6, 1875, by a special government order.
Later, in December 1925, the Llay-Llay commune became part of the Quillota Department. This department was divided into four smaller areas. Then, in March 1976, Llay-Llay became part of the San Felipe de Aconcagua Province, where it remains today.
