Loami is a small village located in Sangamon County, Illinois, in the United States. In 2020, about 812 people lived there. It is part of the larger Springfield, Illinois area.
Loami is special because it's right next to the Nipper Wildlife Sanctuary. This sanctuary is a place where tallgrass prairie plants have been replanted. The village itself is named after the rich, fertile loam soil found in the area. Loami officially became a village on July 29, 1875.
