A Look at Lobera's Past
Lobera de la Vega has a long history. It was first mentioned in old documents from the time of Ramiro II of León. These documents called it "Laenna laperca."
The Lobera Family
The Lobera family originally came from this village. In the 1500s, some members of the family moved to a place called San Cebrián Mazote. Over time, the family spread even further, reaching Galicia and even Cuba.
Royal Gifts and the Church
Towards the end of the 1100s, King Alfonso VIII of Castile gave Lobera to the Monastery of San Zoilo in Carrión. This was a common practice for kings to support religious institutions.
The village has a parish church dedicated to St. Andrew. It is built from brick and has a special ceiling called a vault. Inside, you can see three beautiful altarpieces in a style called neoclassical. These are important artworks that decorate the church.
