Loftus Henry Bland (August 1805 – 21 January 1872) was an important Irish politician. He was a member of the Liberal, Whig, and Independent Irish Party. He served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for King's County.

Early Life and Education
Loftus Henry Bland was born in August 1805. His family lived in Blandsfort House in Queen's County, Ireland. He was the third son of John Bland and Elizabeth Birch.
He went to Trinity College, Cambridge in England. He earned his first degree, a Bachelor of Arts, in 1825. Later, in 1829, he completed his Master of Arts degree.
Becoming a Lawyer
After finishing his studies, Bland became a lawyer. He joined the Irish Bar in 1829. This meant he could practice law in Ireland. In 1854, he became a Queen's Counsel (QC). This is a special title for experienced lawyers.
Family Life
Loftus Henry Bland was married twice and had four children.
First Marriage
In 1840, he married Charlotte Elizabeth Grove Annesley. She was the daughter of Arthur Grove Annesley. They had at least one child together, a son named John Loftus Bland (1841–1908). Sadly, Charlotte passed away in 1842.
Second Marriage
After Charlotte's death, Bland married again in 1843. His second wife was Annie Jane Hackett. She was the daughter of John Prendergast Hackett. Loftus and Annie had at least three children:

Political Career
Loftus Henry Bland was a Member of Parliament (MP). An MP is a person elected to represent a group of people in the country's parliament.
Serving as an MP
Bland was first elected as an MP in the 1852 United Kingdom general election. He represented King's County as a member of the Independent Irish Party. He held this seat in parliament until 1859.
In 1857, he changed his political party and became a Whig. He continued to serve as an MP for King's County. In 1859, he tried to get re-elected as a Liberal, but he was not successful.
Later Life
In 1862, Loftus Henry Bland took on another important role. He became the chairman of the County Cavan Quarter Sessions. This was a type of local court. He passed away in Dublin in 1872 at the age of 66.
