Lone Chaw (Burmese: လုံးချော) is a famous retired Burmese Lethwei fighter. Lethwei is a traditional bare-knuckle boxing sport from Myanmar, often called the "Art of 9 Limbs" because fighters can use their hands, feet, elbows, and knees, plus their head! Lone Chaw was once the Openweight Lethwei World Champion, which means he was considered the best fighter, no matter their weight.

About Lone Chaw's Life
Lone Chaw was born in a small village in the Ayeyarwady area of Myanmar. His family was from the Karen group. He stopped school after ninth grade to help his family work on their farm.
In 1995, Lone Chaw started training in Lethwei. He really wanted to become a professional fighter. Why? Because his hometown had never had a Lethwei champion! He moved to Yangon in 1999 to chase his dream. His very first fight was at a traditional festival.
In 2012, when he was 36 years old, Lone Chaw decided to stop fighting. He then became a head trainer and teacher at the Thut Ti Lethwei Gym. Later, he left that gym to start his own training camp with help from his father.
Lone Chaw's Fighting Career
Lone Chaw became well-known for fighting both local and international opponents. He was one of the first Lethwei fighters to compete in Japan.
Winning Championships
In 1999, Lone Chaw won the Myanmar Interstate Division Title. He also won the Golden Belt Championship in both 2006 and 2007.
One of his most famous fights was in 2006 against the legendary fighter Shwe War Tun. Lone Chaw had always looked up to Shwe War Tun. He once said, "Shwe War Tun is an idol for me because of his fighting ability. I really respect him."
In 2006, the Openweight Lethwei World title became empty because the previous champion, Shwe Sai, couldn't defend it. Shwe War Tun was chosen to fight Lone Chaw for the vacant title. After five intense rounds, Lone Chaw was declared the winner and became the new Openweight Champion!
Tough Fights and Challenges
On April 26, 2008, Lone Chaw had a very tough fight against Win Tun. It ended in a bloody draw. This result was surprising because Win Tun was a lighter fighter, but he controlled much of the match.
On July 27, 2008, after a series of draws, Lone Chaw finally won a fight by TKO (Technical Knockout) against a rising star named Wunna. Lone Chaw landed many punches, and Wunna couldn't continue the fight.
Losing the World Title
On March 1, 2009, Lone Chaw lost his Openweight World title to Saw Nga Man in Yangon. During the fight, Lone Chaw made a mistake. He landed a strong flying kick on Saw Nga Man when Saw Nga Man had his back turned in the corner of the ring. This is against the traditional rules of Lethwei.
The crowd became very upset, and some even called for Lone Chaw to be removed from the ring. The organizers had to turn off the lights for a few minutes to calm everyone down. When the lights came back on, the crowd was cheering for Saw Nga Man instead of Lone Chaw! The judges decided that Saw Nga Man deserved to win, not just because he fought well, but also because Lone Chaw broke the rules. Lone Chaw later said he didn't mean to break the rules; he was just frustrated because Saw Nga Man was hard to hit.
On May 4, 2009, Lone Chaw faced Shwe Sai again. This fight ended in a draw, even after Shwe Sai landed a spectacular knockout blow. Lone Chaw used his special time-out (a unique rule in Lethwei that allows a fighter to take a break after a knockout) and came back strong, almost knocking out Shwe Sai at the end!
