How Lone Star Got Its Name
The name "Lone Star" has an interesting story! One idea is that the very first people who settled here named it after their old home state, Texas. Texas is often called "the Lone Star State."
However, another story says that schoolchildren actually chose the name! The post office in Lone Star was open for a few years, from 1891 to 1895, and then again from 1900 to 1910.
A Look Back in Time
The community of Lone Star and its local school were started way back in 1882. Later, in 1899, a town hall was built. Many of the early families who settled in Lone Star were of Armenian-American descent.
Lone Star School and The Outsiders
The Lone Star Elementary School is still open and active today! It has a really cool connection to a famous movie. It's said that students and a librarian at the school helped convince the famous director Francis Ford Coppola to turn the popular book The Outsiders into a movie. The film, also called The Outsiders, came out in 1983.
