Long is a small community located in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma, in the United States. It's known as a census-designated place (CDP), which means it's a place where people live that is counted by the census, but it's not officially a city or town. Long is part of the larger Fort Smith, Arkansas-Oklahoma Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 2020, about 408 people lived there.

History of Long, Oklahoma
The community of Long was named after a respected Cherokee leader named Peter Long.
Early Days and Post Office
Long had its own post office for many years. It opened on August 22, 1894. The first person in charge of the post office was William J. Webb. The post office served the community until April 15, 1937, when it closed down.

Back in 1905, a special count called the Territorial Census showed that 130 people lived in Long. This gives us an idea of how the community has grown over time.
