Long Beach is a small town located in LaPorte County, Indiana, United States. It is part of Michigan Township and is known for its beautiful sandy beaches along Lake Michigan. In 2020, about 1,189 people lived in Long Beach. It is also part of the larger Michigan City, Indiana-La Porte, Indiana area.

History of Long Beach
Long Beach was started in the 1920s. It was created as a special place for people to visit and relax, like a resort. The town got its name because of the long, sandy beaches found along Lake Michigan.
Some of the old and important houses in Long Beach are recognized for their history. These include the Hoover-Timme House (built in 1929), the John and Isabel Burnham House (built in 1934), and the Lowell E. and Paula G. Jackson House (built in 1938). These homes were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.
Geography and Location
Long Beach is located right on the southeast shore of Lake Michigan. The town covers about 1.11 square miles (2.89 square kilometers) in total. A large part of this area, about 66%, is water, while the rest is land. This means the town has a lot of shoreline and is very close to the lake. The area is also known for its tree-covered dunes.

Long Beach is often home to both people who live there all year and those who visit on weekends or during the summer, especially from nearby Chicago.
Education in Long Beach
Students in Long Beach attend schools that are part of the Michigan City Area Schools district. Most elementary school students go to Springfield Elementary School, while some attend Lake Hills Elementary School. After elementary school, students go to Krueger Middle School. The main high school for the district is Michigan City High School.

Town Features and Activities
Long Beach is a quiet, residential town with many homes nestled among the trees. It has about 3 miles of shoreline along Lake Michigan. The town has a small business area and a private golf course called Long Beach Country Club.
The old Long Beach School building is now used as the Community Center. This center is home to the Long Beach Fitness Center, which is run by the LaPorte County YMCA. The Fitness Center has exercise machines, strength training equipment, and areas for fitness classes like yoga and pilates. Anyone who owns property in Long Beach can use the Fitness Center.
Getting around Long Beach and to other places is possible. The Michigan City Transit's Route 3 Bus stops near the town's southern edge. This bus can take residents to the South Shore Line's Carroll Avenue station, which connects them to downtown Michigan City. The closest Amtrak train station is also in downtown Michigan City.

Long Beach has been home to some well-known people:
- John G. Roberts: He grew up in Long Beach and later became the Chief Justice of the United States.
- Dag Kittlaus: He is one of the people who created Siri, the voice assistant found on Apple devices.
- John Lloyd Wright: The son of famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright, he lived in Long Beach and designed many houses in the area.
