Longtown is an unincorporated community located in Panola County, Mississippi. An "unincorporated community" is a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's part of the larger county. Longtown is about 5.3 miles (8.5 km) south of Pleasant Grove. It's also about 4.3 miles (6.9 km) east-southeast of Askew. You can find it along Mississippi Highway 310.

History
Longtown officially became a town, or "incorporated," in 1882. This meant it had its own local government at that time. However, at a later date, it stopped being an official town. It became "unincorporated" again.
In 1900, Longtown was home to about 175 people. The community also had two churches. For many years, students in the area went to the Longtown Academy. This was a local school. A post office served the Longtown area from 1850 until 1909.
Famous People
- Mabel Welch (1890-1981) was born on a plantation near Longtown. She became a very important person in architecture. An architect is someone who designs buildings. Mabel Welch was the second woman to become a registered architect in Texas.
