Lopera is a town located in the province of Jaén, which is in Andalusia, Spain. It is a small municipality, which is like a local government area. In 2018, about 3,673 people lived there.
History of Lopera
The Spanish Civil War Battle
Lopera was the site of an important event during the Spanish Civil War. This war took place in Spain from 1936 to 1939.
A battle happened near Lopera between December 27 and 29, 1936. This was part of a larger plan by one side of the war, called the Nationalists.
During this time, a group called the XIV International Brigade tried to take control of Lopera. They attacked the town, but after two days of fighting, they were not successful.
