Los Cardales is a small village located in the Buenos Aires Province of Argentina. It is part of an area called Exaltación de la Cruz Partido. The main town of this area is Capilla del Señor.
The Exaltación de la Cruz Partido is surrounded by several other areas. These include Zárate, Campana, San Antonio de Areco, San Andrés de Giles, Luján, and Pilar.
How Many People Live in Los Cardales?
In 2001, a count of the population (called a census) showed that 5,342 people lived in Los Cardales. This was a big jump from 1991, when only 3,528 people lived there. It meant the population grew by more than 50%!
The 2001 census also looked at Los Cardales as part of a larger urban area. This area was called Alto Los Cardales and included parts of the Campana Partido. When counted this way, the total population reached 7,705 people in 2001.
Trains and Railways in Los Cardales
Los Cardales has a part of the Ferrocarril General Bartolomé Mitre railway line. This railway is important for connecting different towns.
Trains on this line travel to places like Victoria and Capilla del Señor. There are usually seven trains that pass through Los Cardales each day. Since 1995, the station in Los Cardales has been a stop where trains can pick up or drop off passengers.
The Bonfire of Saint John's Eve
Every year since 1994, Los Cardales celebrates the Fogata de San Juan. This special event happens on June 21st.
June 21st is the winter solstice, which is the shortest day of the year in the Southern Hemisphere. On this night, a large bonfire is lit. It is a traditional celebration that brings the community together.
